Genevieve McQuillan supports E3’s energy systems modeling and clean energy resource planning work in the Energy Planning, and Policy practice area. Her background spans computational modeling of emissions and combustion systems, quantitative energy market analysis, and decarbonization strategy planning. Genevieve first joined E3 in 2024 as a summer intern on the Integrated Systems Planning team in the Boston office, working on projects ranging from data center electricity rate design to electric vehicle demand response modeling and DER avoided cost analysis. She most recently earned a Master of Philosophy in Energy Technologies from the University of Cambridge, where her dissertation investigated ammonia combustion for maritime applications using computational fluid dynamics and stochastic ignition modeling. Before that, Genevieve studied environmental science and engineering at Harvard University, where she completed her thesis with the Wofsy Lab on satellite-based methane emissions detection algorithms.

Genevieve believes that energy system decarbonization is a powerful lever to climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability. She is passionate about quantitatively investigating policy levers that can contribute to clean energy adoption, particularly for hard-to-abate sectors and large load applications.

Outside of work, Genna enjoys time outside, whether hiking, playing tennis, or rowing. She also loves to read, cook, and spend time with family and friends.
