On May 13, 2015, E3 Chief Scientist Dr. Jim Williams gave an invited talk on “Deep Decarbonization of the United States” in the Chair’s Lecture Series at the California Air Resources Board. The talk was based on a recent landmark study by E3, LBNL, and PNNL, which featured a detailed sector-by-sector, region-by-region, year-by-year analysis of the infrastructure changes, technology requirements, and costs of reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. On March 26, Dr. Williams also spoke on this subject to a sold-out audience at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco; a podcast of this talk is available here.
