Andrew Alberg works in E3’s Asset Valuation and Markets practice, supporting work on renewable resource and energy storage integration into electricity markets and utility regulatory processes. His analysis centers on how to use market design and regulatory rules to incent efficient planning and investment decisions for utilities, customers, and generators, as well as how these factors affect downstream outcomes such as energy affordability and power system emissions.
Andrew came to E3 after working at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where he contributed to research and analysis on topics including retail rates, wholesale market dynamics, and electricity policy using Python-based modeling tools and qualitative analysis. He previously interned at the New York Independent System Operator, conducting economic analysis of Distributed Energy Resource (DER) participation in wholesale energy, capacity, and ancillary service markets.
Andrew’s work in the energy sector is motivated primarily by the profound impacts that modern energy systems have on people and the natural world. He enjoys working in renewable energy for the opportunities to apply detailed analysis to advance the transition to renewable energy and advocate for energy and environmental justice.
Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, Andrew now lives in Denver, Colorado. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, cooking plant-based meals, reading, and playing and listening to music- usually accompanied by his lovely dog.
