E3 is excited to announce the opening of its new office in Chicago. Chicago now joins San Francisco, Boston, New York, Calgary, and Denver as home to E3 offices. The new office reflects E3’s growing work across Illinois and the broader Midwest and our commitment to supporting clients at the center of the region’s energy transition.

Over the past several years, E3 has been deeply engaged with Illinois state agencies on some of the state’s most important energy planning efforts. Most recently, E3 supported the 2025 Illinois Resource Adequacy Study, published by the Illinois Power Agency, Illinois Commerce Commission, and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, which assessed reliability needs in Illinois and the broader PJM and MISO markets serving the state. E3 also supported development of the 2025 Draft Renewable Energy Access Plan, which introduced a statewide framework for evaluating generation and transmission needs while recognizing the role of regional planning processes in MISO and PJM. And E3 has kicked off a new study with the Illinois Commerce Commission to explore statewide Pathways to Decarbonization.

The opening of E3’s Chicago office is an exciting step to continue working closely with Illinois state agencies, utilities, grid operators, and other partners as they navigate reliability, affordability, decarbonization, and transmission development in a rapidly changing energy landscape. Chicago is a natural home for this work, given the city’s connection to Illinois policy development and to the evolving planning needs across both MISO and PJM.

To mark the opening, we’re hosting an E3 & Friends Chicago party on August 13th. If you’d like to join us, please reach out to info@ethree.com.
